Cloud Networking News

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Cloud computing may end up being as secure as traditional IT systems eventually. But the technology is still mature, requiring businesses to invest more heavily in security protocols that will help protect their data while using the cloud. Wireless network security practices, including intrusion prevention, are becoming critical to allow businesses to operate safely in the cloud, Business Computing World reported.

According to the news source, 2012 could be a year of change in terms of cloud security. As more regulatory standards, such as the PCI DSS, are adapted to the cloud, businesses will likely adjust their cloud strategies to improve security.

Wireless network intrusion prevention will likely be one of the technologies deployed to help secure cloud setups, the report said. This process contributes to data protection by identifying unauthorized users within the network and notifying administrators so they can take action before systems are compromised.

Securing the wireless network to protect the cloud could become even more critical as a growing number of users turn to mobile devices. A recent Internet Evolution report said a growing number of cloud services are being designed to function effectively as mobile applications.
