Confident it will prevail in USPTO Interference Action

Mountain View, CA - November 8, 2006 - AirTight® Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has agreed to hear the patent interference case filed by AirDefense regarding AirTight’s patent No.7,002,943. This means that both companies will now get to present their arguments before a USPTO judge. It does not indicate any judgment about the merits of the interference case and is merely the beginning of an extended process to resolve the IP ownership issue for the claims in this specific patent.

“While we think this interference claim is unwarranted and has no merit, we welcome the opportunity to present our case in front of the USPTO on this matter,” said Pravin Bhagwat, chief technology officer of AirTight Networks. “Until now, we have not been able to offer our side of the argument due to the way the interference process works, and now that we are able to make our presentation, we are confident that we will prevail. And, as announced separately today, the USPTO has allowed AirTight a second patent on the WIPS invention – with full knowledge of AirDefense’s interference claims – which is an indication of the strength of our position.”

“AirTight is continuing to pursue a leadership strategy in the intellectual property and patent arena,” said David King, chairman and CEO of AirTight Networks. “The first patent issued by the USPTO in the wireless intrusion prevention area – was to AirTight, and we have had a continuation patent that reinforces and expands our intellectual property. While several of our competitors are playing catch-up both in the IP front as well as on product functionality, AirTight is continuing to invest in inventing, developing, marketing, and supporting the best WIPS solution in the market.”

AirTight Networks’ family of products includes SpectraGuard® Enterprise, SpectraGuard MNC, SpectraGuard Sentry, SpectraGuard Planner, and SpectraGuard SAFE (Security Agent For Endpoints) products. As shown in the February 2006 Tolly Group report, the March 2006 Information Security Magazine review, a May 2006 Gartner MarketScope report, and a May 2006 Tower group report, AirTight’s SpectraGuard Enterprise outperforms its competitors in wireless intrusion prevention functionality.
