Mountain View, CA - November 13, 2006 - AirTight Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that two of its products:
SpectraGuard® Enterprise – the enterprise scale WIPS solution that can cover an entire federal agency
SpectraGuard SAFE – the laptop protection solution – for when federal employees are traveling and out of their home office have now been listed on the NIAP/Common Criteria certification list.

The AirTight Networks’ WIPS solutions being certified through this process – will cover all aspects of wireless IPS protection – large site or headquarters facilities, branch or field office facilities, and laptops that are traveling and not in a federally protected facility.

NIAP Common Criteria certification is mandated for wireless LAN equipment installed by the US Department of Defense. The most recent memorandum from the DoD on WLANs  actually requires installation of wireless IDS or IPS tools – that have been certified through this process. With this listing, AirTight is the only vendor with a complete solution for the DoD’s requirements. NIAP Common Criteria certification is also required by many other governments and institutions that have adopted these criteria, including the Canadian government.

The Common Criteria certification efforts for AirTight’s products are being conducted by CygnaCom Solutions Inc. CygnaCom Solutions’ Security Evaluation Lab (SEL) is a certified NIAP Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL) authorized to conduct product evaluations according to the Common Criteria (CC) (ISO/IEC 15408) and the Common Evaluation Methodology (CEM) under the U.S. scheme. The CygnaCom Solutions SEL was among the first CCTLs to be accredited by NIAP, in August 2000.

“We're very committed to and focused on the federal market, and already have installations at USAID, the US Postal Service and other federal facilities” said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing at AirTight Networks. “With the security needs and requirements of Homeland Security, we believe that many federal agencies (not just the armed services) will be able to benefit from AirTight’s ability to provide the only true wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) that works.”

AirTight Networks’ SpectraGuard Enterprise has established its industry leadership position by delivering the key elements of an effective wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS):

detecting and correctly classifying wireless threats - to catch all threats, while minimizing false alarms
preventing (multiple, simultaneous) wireless threats - while continuing to scan for new ones
accurately locating the wireless threats on a floor map - so they can be removed.

As shown in the February 2006 Tolly Group report, the March 2006 Information Security Magazine review of WIPS solutions, and the May 2006 Tower Group report - AirTight’s SpectraGuard Enterprise outperforms its competitors in wireless intrusion prevention functionality.

About Common Criteria
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) established the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) to evaluate IT product conformance to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, an international standard. The program, officially known as the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) is a partnership between the public and private sectors to help organizations select commercial off-the-shelf information technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements and to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the global marketplace. Twenty-two countries now recognize the Common Criteria as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures.
