Learn How to Stay PCI Compliant in the Wireless World
Understand Potential WLAN Threats and How to Defend Against Them
Hear Real-life Best Practices Case Studies

Speakers: Dennis Tsu, Vice President of Marketing at AirTight Networks, Ted Ross, Director of Systems Engineering at TippingPoint, and Roger Nebel National Strategic Security Practice Leader at FTI Consulting

Moderator: Rick Gallagher, Publisher at STORES Magazine and LPinformation

When: April 18, 2007 at Noon EDT (for one hour, which will include a Q&A session)

What: Retailers today are using wireless LAN (WLAN) technology extensively to enable mobility within the store for POS terminals, inventory management, and voice. However, because most retail security practices have been focused on the authorized WLAN activity, broad knowledge of the security threat from unauthorized WLAN technology may not be well understood, which has resulted in several prominent retailers facing audits and penalties due to WLAN security breaches. This new breed of wireless threats is a critical component of PCI compliance, which is mandatory for all merchants that store, process, or transmit credit card data through retail stores, mail order, telephone order, and e-commerce. These risks can compromise a retailer's network and must be understood and defended against.

A recent article in Network World indicated that some sources conjecture that the TJX data-theft case was a targeted attack by hackers who broke in through unprotected wireless LANs. This is not unlike two other breaches reported by Lowe’s and DSW, which were confirmed as wireless attacks, and points to the need for retailers to link their wired security policy to a wireless security policy to secure their customers’ payment card data and ensure PCI compliance.

Who should attend: Senior Executives in Information Systems/Technology, Allocation/Planning, Operations/Distribution, Finance and Compliance
