SpectraGuard Sentry Provides a Unique WIPS in a Box Solution for Small Business and Home Offices

Mountain View, CA - May 8, 2007
- AirTight® Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded a third patent, No. 7,216,365, to AirTight in the area of wireless intrusion prevention. This patent is awarded for AirTight’s invention of a self-contained, stand-alone wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) apparatus such as AirTight’s currently shipping SpectraGuard® Sentry and related intrusion prevention methods.

SpectraGuard® Sentry is the wireless intrusion prevention system that can provide effective WIPS coverage to a small office location of up to 20,000 square feet. The SpectraGuard Sentry system is completely housed in a dual-radio sensor device – which attaches to the office LAN and sends email alerts to the network administrator when it detects and prevents any wireless threats. There is no need for a separate server or any complicated administrative console. Sentry is ideal for small office and home users who face the same evolving wireless threats as their larger counterparts and need 24/7 protection but do not have ready access to an IT department or a large budget.

“AirTight’s third patent builds on the fundamental building blocks of an effective WIPS, extending protection to businesses no matter what their size,” said Dr. Hemant Chaskar, director of technology at AirTight Networks. “AirTight’s innovation here lies in providing techniques to realize effective WIPS in a standalone apparatus ideal for small business from administrative and cost perspectives.”

“The first patent issued by the USPTO in the wireless intrusion prevention area – was to AirTight,” Dr. Pravin Bhagwat, chief technology officer of AirTight Networks. “Our second patent expanded the scope and reinforced the strength of the first. This third addresses the concerns of small to medium size businesses giving them the same accurate, automated protection from wireless intrusion that their large enterprise counterparts enjoy.”

“AirTight’s mission is to provide customers with the most secure wireless computing environment to all users no matter what the size of the company and no matter where the users connect,” continued Bhagwat. “This latest patent demonstrates our commitment to that goal and to pursuing a leadership strategy in the intellectual property and patent arena.”

Availability and Pricing
A single SpectraGuard Sentry will cover most small offices and is priced at $495.
