Joint Solutions Address Needs of Enterprise and SMB Customers

Mountain View, CA - August 29, 2006 - NextHop Technologies® and AirTight® Networks today announced a marketing and technology partnership providing enhanced security and performance management for enterprise class wireless networking solutions. NextHop and AirTight will co-market wireless solutions to the OEM community based on NextHop’s secure unified wired and wireless switching and routing software and AirTight’s industry leading wireless planning and wireless intrusion prevention solutions. These capabilities will be integrated through both companies’ published APIs (application programming interfaces): the AirTight API for wireless solutions and NextHop’s Dynamic Network Architecture (DNA).

NextHop’s DNA leads the industry in providing the crucial framework necessary for turnkey networking solutions to rapidly integrate value-added software components from independent software vendors, such as AirTight. This partnership will enable networking equipment suppliers to quickly and easily enhance NextHop’s advanced wireless switching solution by additionally offering unique, state of the art WLAN planning tools and intrusion prevention solutions provided by AirTight.

“NextHop is dedicated to bringing enterprise and SMB OEM customers cost effective, easy-to-implement and easy-to-manage software for wireless solutions,” said PG Menon, vice-president marketing at NextHop. “With the rise of WLANs in today’s enterprise networks, companies of all sizes find they require unified wireless switching solution that is integrated with RF planning and intrusion prevention tools. We are therefore pleased to provide our WLAN customers with AirTight’s best of breed security and performance management capabilities.”

AirTight Networks leads the industry in providing both a robust, scaleable, manageable wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) solution. AirTight’s SpectraGuard® Enterprise has established its industry leadership position by delivering the key elements of an effective wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS):

detecting and correctly classifying wireless threats
to catch all threats, while minimizing false alarms - preventing (multiple, simultaneous) wireless threats
while continuing to scan for new ones - accurately locating the wireless threats on a floor map - so they can be removed.

As wireless usage is now commonplace, these patented capabilities, along with the wireless management capabilities now embedded in all of AirTight’s products, are critical to ensuring the cost-effective, secure, reliable performance of any enterprise network infrastructure.

“OEMs are an important market segment for AirTight,” said David Canavan, vice president of business development at AirTight Networks. “Given NextHop’s proven leadership in this market, this is an important partnership for us. As NextHop and its OEM customers penetrate the market, the need for integrated WIPS and planning solutions will be critical.”
