SpectraGuard Enterprise Selected for Its Ease of Use and Automation
Mountain View, Ca - March 30, 2010 - U. S. Oil prides itself on looking to the future for better ways to compete in categories shaped by global trends and transformational technologies. This led the company to choose SpectraGuard® Enterprise from AirTight® Networks to automate its PCI DSS compliance scanning efforts to meet the Wireless Guideline issued last year by the PCI SSC and strengthen its wireless security.
"Because of the number of transactions U.S. Oil processed last year, we needed to go through a more complex PCI compliance audit," said Joe Kunde, IT Manager at U.S. Oil. "That gave us the opportunity to look at every security practice across the company and discover where we could do better - how we could improve on rogue AP detection. We wanted to then measure our efforts against the PCI requirements to meet not only the letter of the requirement but the real intent. We also made a strategic decision to put more emphasis overall on IT security including wireless."
U.S. Oil has over 50 locations throughout the Mid-Western United States, some with Wi-Fi deployed and others that do not have it. Kunde needed to make sure that each of the locations was adhering to the security policies in place to protect card holder data. Performing spot checks with a mobile analyzer was too time consuming and labor intensive. After considering options which included using the wireless security which came with his Cisco infrastructure or expanding on the manual processes he already had in place but doing some automation behind the scenes, Kunde chose SpectraGuard Enterprise.
"Automation played a big role in our choice of SpectraGuard. It was the number one selling point," continued Kunde. "We run a lean shop and I could not afford to bring in any solution that required a lot of manual intervention but knew that I needed robust full time prevention, not something which shared its time between access and monitoring. AirTight was the obvious choice because it is plug and play. I needed to simply give the sensors to someone who is on site in a remote warehouse, get them powered up and ready to go feeding back information."
