International Speedway Corporation (ISC) Keeps Race Fans’ Data Safe at Track with AirTight

SpectraGuard Enterprise Selected for WIPS Overlay of Cisco Infrastructure

Mountain View, Ca - August 2, 2010 - International Speedway Corporation (ISC) is a leading promoter of motorsports entertainment in North America, owning or operating 13 major motorsports facilities including Daytona International Speedway®.  The Company has chosen SpectraGuard Enterprise® from AirTight® Networks to provide its merchandising partners with the anywhere, anytime Wi-Fi connectivity at the speedway while maintaining wireless security and PCI compliance to ensure customer data is protected.

"Our merchandise partners rely on our wireless network to complete transactions and SpectraGuard helps further protect sensitive customer data.  We needed a solution which could automatically monitor for rogue access points and we were probably a bit ahead of the curve - no pun intended - when it came to understanding the wireless component of the PCI DSS," said William Ryan, Manager, Information Security. "We implemented a WLAN from Cisco for our networking infrastructure but wanted an independent wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) which was purpose-built for wireless security.  The fact that SpectraGuard could overlay our infrastructure and integrate easily into our Cisco WLAN was a big factor in our choice of AirTight. By triangulating AirTight sensors across the area we had to cover, we could automatically control our airspace while reducing the number of sensors we needed to deploy. That created a cost saving."

"Our 'Full Circle Integration' brings together the race day venue for all our operational needs and those of our partners on site including media, merchandise vendors and sponsors," continued William. "We place the guest experience and value at the forefront of all the activities we offer which often requires adopting new technologies to serve them more efficiently and offer innovative and thrilling guest experiences."

"When we first considered a separate product for wireless security versus using the internal controls within the Cisco product, we looked at all the players side by side and quickly realized that SpectraGuard had a better way of evaluating and containing wireless threats as well as having a much more intuitive UI. AirTight was also the only solution which offered an 802.11n sensor which was backward compatible, which relieved us of the burden of a forklift infrastructure upgrade."
