David King, Chairman and CEO
David was formerly the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Proxim, Inc. He joined Proxim in December 1992 as Vice President of Marketing, was appointed President and CEO in July 1993 and took the company public in December 1993, making Proxim the first publicly traded WLAN company. He grew Proxim from $4 million to over $100 million in annual revenues.
Before Proxim, David was Vice President of Marketing and Customer Services at Vitalink Communications Corporation, a pioneer in wide area data networking, where he served in various executive capacities from 1990 to 1992. From 1985 to 1990, he was a senior manager in the San Francisco office of McKinsey, where he was a leader in the firm's high technology and health care practices.
David holds an A.B. in Economics, as well as J.D. and M.B.A. degrees, all from Harvard University.
Kiran Deshpande, President
Kiran brings 24 years of management and technology experience in the software industry. Kiran was formerly the Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra British Telecom (MBT). Kiran grew the company from US $7m in five years achieving over 60% CAGR on revenue and 110% CAGR on net profit. The company became one of the top software services companies from India.
Prior to MBT, Kiran was Senior Vice President of Software Services at IMR (later acquired by CGI). At IMR, Kiran conceptualized and successfully implemented software engineering research programs resulting in substantial growth of company leading to IPO at NASDAQ. Kiran spent 14 years at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in various executive, sales and engineering positions.
Kiran has a BSEE from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and MSEE from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He is a senior member of IEEE
Pravin Bhagwat, Chief Technology Officer
Pravin is a wireless networking pioneer and an accomplished researcher. He brings 13 years of leading edge research and development experience in wireless and mobile networking and leads technology development and research at AirTight Networks. Pravin has numerous research papers and patents to his credit. His most recent accomplishment includes design and roll-out of a very large scale outdoor WLAN network connecting two cities in north India. Prior to being an entrepreneur, Pravin was a lead researcher at AT&T Research and IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, New York where he spearheaded several wireless technology innovation projects that led to creation of novel products & standards. He regularly serves on program committees of networking and wireless conferences. He is the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and has also served as a guest editor of IEEE Network.
Pravin has a B.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur, India and an MS/PhD in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA.
Andy Lovit, Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Andy brings 24 years of sales leadership experience, to the company. Andy was formerly Senior Vice President, Service Provider Sales for Tandberg Television, which was acquired by the Ericsson Group. Prior to Tandberg Television, Andy was Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Field Operations for SkyStream Networks.
Andy successfully grew SkyStream’s revenue and customer base, which resulted in SkyStream being acquired by Tandberg Television. Andy also served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Onetta, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Support at MAYAN Networks, and Vice President of Sales at Paradyne Corporation where he was instrumental in taking the company through its initial public offering. Andy has also held senior sales management positions at 3Com, Vitalink Communications and Wang Laboratories, Inc.
Andy holds a bachelors of science degree in business administration from The Ohio State University.
Samir Palnitkar, Vice President of Engineering
Samir Palnitkar provides leadership to engineering, product delivery, technical support and operations at AirTight. Samir brings 17 years of experience in management, technology, marketing, sales and operations.
A serial entrepreneur, Samir was the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Obongo, Inc. a leading online identity management company that was acquired by America Online (AOL) in July 2001. Prior to Obongo, Samir was the founder and President of I2P, Inc., a multi-million dollar semiconductor design company that was acquired by Lattice Semiconductor, Inc.
Samir started his career at Sun Microsystems where he held key management and engineering positions. He is the holder of 3 US patents and has published several technical papers. Samir has also written two authoritative books on chip design.
Samir holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, India, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle and a M.B.A. from San Jose State University.
